default
Posted on Thu, 23 Jun 2016
Question: I have had a shooting pain in my big left toe for about 4 days now. I am a 69 year old female and was told that it could be a sign of heart problems, and I should have it checked out. There is no redness or swelling of the toe. Heart problems run in my family.

Brief Answer:
Not related to cardiac cause.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The pain in the left big toe is not likely to be related to a cardiac cause or heart attack. It is more likely to be due to arthritis or gout. A blood uric acid levels evaluation and a direct examination will help in detecting the exact cause. Taking a mild pain killer will help till then.
I hope this answers your query.
