What Causes Pain In The Legs While On Simvastatin?

Question: Hi, I'm on Metformin Hcl Er Tabs 500mg. Omeprazole Caps 20mg., Valacyclovir Hcl Tabs 500mg., Simvastatin Tabs 20mg., Lisinopril Tabs 5mg., and Atenolol W/Chlorthalid Tabs 50/25mg. My question is my legs ache all the time as the day goes by they get worse do any of they medicines cause my legs to aches? I can't walk anywhere without always looking for a place to sit down. If I miss a dose of these meds the next day my legs don't hurt near as much.
Brief Answer:
Yes, simvastatin is the probable cause!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Achy legs are a side effect of simvastatin. I will suggest that you report this to your doctor for him to evaluate the intensity and see whether the pains are so severe that may warrant discontinuing this drug. If teh reasons for this drug are very important, reducing the dose or managing the pain through regular moderate levels of physical exercise and pain medications. In addition, remember to drink much liquids as well.
Let me know how this goes. I wish you well.
