
What Causes Pain In The Ribs Radiating To The Breast And Back?

Question: What can it be? I have pain just above a rib that goes from under my breast around to the back. it's in my breast as well. Could it be shingles? I have had shingles in the past .

Your pain is due t the involvement of an intercostal nerve. You would have felt the same kind of pain if shingles had affected the same nerve. It can be a post herpetic neuralgia. A recurrence of shingles is less likely unless you are immuno-compromised.
There are other causes like spondylosis and pinching of the nerve by a prolapsed disc.
