What Causes Pain In The Upper Left Abdomen?

default
Posted on Mon, 17 Apr 2017
Question: I went to the ER because I was having a dull upper left abdominal pain and next to my belly button. I had a clear colonoscopy 4 years ago. Asides the abdominal pain, I have been burping a lot after I eat. Also have a lot of gas. I had a CT scan done, urine and blood work all came back normal. Dr at Er told me that I had backed up bowels. I haven't lost weight and this is creating a lot of anxiety on me. I have been able to have bm no bleeding. Should I be concerned? If I had a tumor in my intestines would it show on Ct scan? Thanks, I'm so worried.

Brief Answer:
CT Scan will show the tumour.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Pain left to belly button could be due to small intestine.Large intestine/colon will be at the edges of the abdomen.
It may be due to spasm of the small intestine.I prescribe anti spasmodic tablet containing Dicyclomine to my patients with similar complaints.I also add PRE and PROBIOTIC capsule to these patients which gave good results.
As all the investigations were normal, nothing to worry.
Hope i answered your query. If you have any questions,i will clarify further.
Wish you good health.

Thank you for your prompt response doctor. I have a couple of more questions for you. I have been able to have bowel movements, with different consistencies though. Some are mucusy, others are more solid and others are more liquidy. Is this a cause for concern? Since the Dr at the Dr told me that I'm backed up? Thanks

The consistency depends on the food.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
The consistency depends on the food that you take.
Altered bowel habits is related to Colon pathology.
