What Causes Pain In Upper Abdomen And Spasms In Left Arm After Taking Aspirin?

Question: Had a knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago. The doctor prescribed aspirin 325 mg twice daily as blood thinner instead of other medications to prevent clots. After 4 weeks started noticing paid in the upper abdomen, sort of spasms in left arm and lower back and initially thought it was cardiac related and went to see cardiologist but everything checked out OK.
But have severe upper abdominal cramps especially after eating which is causing jitteriness and anxiety attacks. But not sure if it is gastritis or something dto do with aspirin or some other problem

Brief Answer:
It could be due to drug induced gastritis.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description,it looks like drug Aspirin induced gastritis .
Please consult your doctor who prescribed it and ask for an alternative medicine.
I prescribe Proton pump inhibitor like Rabeprazole along with Levosulpiride to my patients with similar complaints. The response is good if it is taken before food.Spicy food, caffeine products, carbonated drinks have to be avoided. If there is no response,I will get an Upper GI endoscopy for exact diagnosis.
Nothing to worry. It will come down.
Hope I answered your query. if you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
