Question: Hello I have had a chest cold for 1 1/2 weeks.. The doctor gave me antibiotics and it is clearing up, but since yesterday I have had a pain in the middle of my upper back and chest and felt dizzy and nausea, I revisited the dr and she said it's due to the infection and to continue taking the antibiotics should I be concerned about the pain? It is not constant it comes and goes through the day.. I have also had some reflux and burping

Brief Answer:
GERD associated with antibiotics

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

The back pain with dyspepsia is most likely due to GERD. Antibiotics can have a range of side effects depending upon the individual.

PPIs like lansoprazole can be advised to look for resolution of the symptoms.

If the fever and lower respiratory tract infection associated symptoms including fever have subsided then the antibiotics are working and should be continued to complete the course.
