What Causes Pain In Upper Stomach Area With Normal Ultrasound Report?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: i have been having bad stomach pain in my upper stomach only, just started several weeks ago. No acid reflux to speak of, nothing else out of the ordinary, just the pain. Had blood tests done for the virus that can cause ulcers, came back negative. Then went to have an ultrasound done to check gallbladder, liver, kidney, etc. Again, came back negative. Dr. had originally prescribed me Omerprazole, which seems to have helped the pain to cease. when I stopped taking for a couple of days, pain came back in the middle of the night. Feels like someone punched me in the stomach. Should I pursue further tests to make sure not something mis/undiagnosed, such as stomach cancer?

Brief Answer:
Recommended upper endoscopy....

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXX,

I have gone through your medical concerns carefully.

From what you are describing, it might be due to gastritis or ulcer. I highly recommend to schedule upper endoscopy for further evaluations.

No final conclusion can be made unless you run upper endoscopy first.

Continue with omeprazole and diet changes.

Hope it helped!
