What Causes Pain Like Sensation In Limbs While On Mirtazapine?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Sep 2016
Question: I have been prescribed mirtazapine 15mgs nocte by my GP. I am already on pramipexole er 0.375 mgs nightly by the same gp. I had no problems with taking the pramepexole on its own, but on the first and last two nights of taking the two meds together, I have had unbearable sensations through my body and limbs far worse than RSL. tonight, I have not taken the mirtazapine, and have not had anything untoward at all.
Could this be an adverse reaction to the two drugs together ??, or too me being allergic to the mirtazine >
I look forward to your reply.

Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

This is likely an adverse reaction to mirtazapine. Sometimes mirtazapine can cause akathisia, which is the sensation you describe. This is likely not an interaction but an adverse reaction to mirtazapine itself. I recommend finding an alternative to mirtazapine, such as trazodone.
