Question: About 11:00 this morning I think I was bitten or stung by something. Didn't see what it was. Since then my
Right hand palm at thumb joint has been very painful and now my entire hand and my arm up to the elbow has become numb, tinglie and more painful. There is also some swelling with the thumb and index finger.
I did apply ice immediately, the some heat and I also took a Benadryl.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thank you for your question.

Neurological symptoms after an insect bite require urgent medical evaluation. This is considered a medical emergency. Typically, insect bites result in itching, pain, and swelling. Benadryl and ice would be an appropriate treatment in that type of situation.

But the extent of your symptoms up to the elbow, and neurological symptoms including numbness and tingling, means this is an emergency. You need to visit the nearest emergency room immediately.
