there are a few possible causes
Detailed Answer:
hi,
thank for writing back, and putting up the picture,
i have seen the picture closely , some possibilities which can be there are as following,
1) Supra pateller or infra pateller bursitis:
This is inflammation of soft fluid bags above patella , I would encourage you to search for supra pateller and infra pateller bursa on net and see if the location corresponds with your place of swelling.
It usally occurs in dominant knee like in your case it happened in right knee as it bears so much insult and pressure.
This can be cured with anti-inflammatory meds or a steroid injection in joint,in resistant cases.
2) Patellar tendon inflammation:
This can be due to a pull or continuous insult on patella , it too, usually happens in dominant knee like you have got.
some inflammations result in calcification at the place of inflammation , an Xray may well reveal a calcified areas at an unusual place in the tendon.
3) Osteoartheritis,
This is quite nototrius in athletes and occrs due to continuous friction , pressure and deteriorating changes in joints ,
this needs to be diagnosed and meds are given with rest it usually gets cured but keeps happening again and again.
It may also occur in athletes which exert alot but don't really care about taking calcium supplements.
I would suggest you to follow it up with orthopedic surgeon this needs to be diagnosed because if there is such problem in your knee it will keep deteriorating if you keep putting pressure on your bad knee.
Things will hope get better soon but need proper management by a good professional experienced in sports related problem.
I wish you the best of health.
Best regards.

This is simple knee strain.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back,
I have read your MRI report in detail,
It is exactly confirming what i said to you,
It shows strain on pataller tendon, which could have caused deterioration, friction damage or inflammation in the tendon,
I would like to tell you that this problem is quite simple and treatable, It would need just rest and management by a good sports physiotherapist,
But for that you will have to take probably 2-3 months off from really vigorous training ,I know for a sports man it's the worst thing to ask for but without rest it won't get the time to heal up and will keep getting worsening.
You are athlete your tissues are strong they will heal better than any other person but your vigorous exertion will also cause the deterioration earlier so it's better to ask your doctor and plan a healing time-off .
Stay blessed .
Regards Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
