What Causes Pain Under The Right Rib Cage, Night Sweats And Poor Appetite?
Urgent Investigations, opinion and management
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/55 - pain - right side below ribs in kidney area - unbearable to stand or sit - 10 days - fever - taking Aspirin - fever goes down but comes after 4 hours - night sweats - no appetite - no burning urination - taking Cephalexin ...
All these symptoms going on for 10 days can turn out to be serious if not diagnosed and treated well.
These are suggested of a closed cavity infection either in liver, right kidney or gall bladder.
I would advise you the following:
Clinical evaluation and physical examination by a Doctor, preferably a General Surgeon.
Tests of blood: CBC, liver and kidney functions, blood culture and sensitivity.
Urine: Routine, microscopy, culture and sensitivity.
Ultrasonography of the whole abdomen.
These would be sufficient to get a primary diagnosis and helps to decide what further tests and treatment be given.
If Cephalexin has been take for more than 48 to 72 hours, you may have to be shifted to another antibiotic.
Further management as per clinical evaluation and tests reports.
Please get these things done an an urgent basis to get a the correct diagnosis and have a proper plan of management.
