Question: I sent the following query to HealthCareMagic which was answered by a Gastroenterologist. He gave me very valuable advice but suggested to impart his suggestion to a neurologist.
Here is what I sent to him:
My name is XXXX. I'm 45 years old female.
I'm having severe burning sensation and pain in my head from the last 2 months. Also, there is pain (streched) in my neck. I also feel streched eyes.

I cannot eat due to this pain and have started feeling very weak. Simetimes, my blood pressure goes very high ( 175/105) with very high pulse rate of more than 100. At the same time my hands get extremely cold. I feel shivering in my body, especially stomach.

I had my gall bladder removed due to stones around 2 months ago. Although, I had blood pressure issues before, but this headache with burning sensation started after the surgery.

I have my head ct scan done with everything good. I'm going to have my head mri scan in 3 days but I feel my problem may be concerned with my stomach, especially the gal bladder surgery.

I'm taking folloing medications:
Amlodipine Besylate 2.5mg Tab - 1 every morning

Topiramate 25mg Tab - 1 tab Twice daily

Levothyroxine Sodium 25 mcg - 1 every morning

Rebeprazole Sodium 20 mg Tab - 1 every morning

Lorazepam 1 mg Tab - when needed ( only took three times in one month but had to take twice in last 3 days due to high blood pressure and anxiety)

The Gastroenterologist suggested the symptoms are tension headache. He also suggested to not take topiramate.

I'll greatly appreciate your specialist advice to help me relieve from this pain and weakness.
Thanks very much,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Take treatment as advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concern.
Is the headache unilateral or bilateral?
Any throbbing sensation?
Any associated nausea or vomiting with headache?
Any sleep disturbances?
Any sensitivity to light or sound during headache?
Possibility of tension type headache is more.
You can take duloxetine 20 or 30 mg at night. Clonazepam or etizolam can be taken in day time for anxiety.
Regular blood pressure monitoring.
Antihypertensive may be increased if required.
Not likely related to gall bladder surgery.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
