Question: I have been experiencing itchy buttocks for several weeks now. The scratching was so painful it left one cheek blackened. Whenever I have the slightest inclination to empty my bowels, the itching flares up rapidly. I also have itchiness on the underside of my scrotum and the area between the scrotum and the "butt crack." I also have itchiness on my inner thighs. I have used Preparation H anti-itch cream in the hemorrhoid area and Lamisil cream for my buttocks. Also, the driest portion (and most prone to itching) is in the inner buttocks area . Is it safe to use the Lamisil cream on them? Thanks very much.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Welcome to healthcaremagic.
I have read your query and understood your concern.
It seems that you are suffering from fungal infection. It is characterized by itchy red colored scaly rash .
I usually advice my patients to take oral antifungals like fluconazole/ terbinafine daily for atleast 2 weeks. Alongwith topical creams containing antifungals like clotrimazole/ terbinafine to be applied twice daily over the lesions.
lamisil is also a terbinafine containing cream. You can continue to use it.
For symptomatic relief, you can take tab levocetrizine/ fexofenadine in night time.
Change and wash clothes daily.
Don't share your clothes with others.
I will also advise you to get your blood sugar level done to rule out diabetes.
I hope it helps.
if you have further query, you can ask me.
Take care.
