What Causes Painful Lump On Left Shin And Itchy Ankle?
Question: all of a sudden I had a painful lump show up on my left shin…it has been a week and it will not go away. the welling went down some, now it is bigger again. it is very painful to the touch. my left foot has some numbness and my left ankle is itchy. what could this be?

This is not a skin condition. The lump on my shin is hard and under the skin

Since the overlying skin over the lump is normal, so this leads us to a different set of possibilities.
Such a sudden painful lump especially over the shin area can occur due to erythema nodosum.
This is basically an inflammatory skin disease.
I would advise you to immediately start with intake of some oral anti inflammatory agents like paracetamol thrice a day.
You should see a local doctor or preferably a dermatologist soon since you might need to be investigated to look for the exact cause.
