Brief Answer:
Consult your doctor for physical exmintaion.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I have read your query.
In general, a painful lump or swelling that appears suddenly over a day or two is usually caused by an injury or infection. It's likely to be an infection if the skin around the lump is red and warm. So you must consult your doctor who will do your physical examination and act accordingly. He will check whether swelling is adherent to bone, muscle or skin. He may advise you some investigations including some blood tests and if lump is adherent to bone or muscle he may advise you MRI scan to know the extent of lump.
You have not given any history of fever, diabetes mellitus so I am asumming it to be normal. You have not mentioned, since how long the lump is present as duration of lump tell a different thing.
Do not take any medication by your own.
I hope it helps.
