What Causes Painful Respiration?
Question: Hi. Am having pain/feeling like something blocked my food pipe. Paining more if I take a deep breath or cough.
Brief Answer:
Proton pump inhibitor drugs...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Without a physical examination it would be hard to predict the cause of this discomfort. If the pain is severe and troubling you, it is advisable to visit a doctor. ECG and cardiac examination is recommended.
In the interim, I would start you on proton pump inhibitor drugs along with prokinetic agent - cap pantoprazole 20mg + tab domperidone twice a day for few days.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Hello doctor, could you please respond to my follow up question.. regarding the tablet I had last night
Brief Answer:
Pantorite = Pantoprazole...
Detailed Answer:
Pantorite contains the formula 'pantoprazole' which is equivallent of the medicine I suggested. If you had 40mg of pantorite, once a day is sufficient.
For additional benefits, I suggest adding domperidone to this schedule.

Brief Answer:
Monitor your progress..
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
You seem to be making a progress with treatment. However I will continue monitoring you until you get better.
The throat irritation may be secondary to acid reflux (which will get better with pantorite) or from an infection. You should see the doctor to treat infection if throat discomfort worsens.
As far as the diet is concerned, I have only two recommendations - be regular with food and avoid spices.
In addition, I will also recommend physical exercise, maintain appropriate weight, be regular with sleep.
Hope this answered all your question. If you have no more questions, please close this discussion.
