What Causes Painful Swelling On Ankle?
Question: I have painful swelling on my right inside bone of my ankle. My GP has had me have a blood test immediately and booked me in for a USS and x-ray. I'm am very worried it may be cancer as I think my GP is as well.
Brief Answer:
It could be a simple benign swelling also.
Detailed Answer:
Hi
All the swellings are not malignant /Cancerous.
If the swelling is of shorter duration, chances of cancer are less.
As your GP said, you should be investigated.
Digital xray and ULTRASOUND of that area will give a clue.
You need FNAC ( Fine Needle aspiration Cytology ) or TRUCUT BIOPSY of the swelling for exact diagnosis.
Hope I answered your query.
If you have any questions or If you come back after investigations, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.
Regards
