What Causes Palpable Lymph Nodes On Left Side Of Body?
Question: I have palpable lymph nodes unilaterally on the left side in several areas. Cervical (near parotid), supraclavicular, axilary, and epitrochlear. The nodes are moveable, and not large. About 1-1.5 cm as best I can tell.
My doctor sent me for a CT scan with contrast of the neck and chest. The radiologist reported both scans to be within normal limits.
I'm confused by this as my doctor wants me to follow up with him in 2 weeks. I am very nervous.
He also ran some blood work. I have a mildly elevated WBC count, (11.2) and a mildly depleted hematocrit (39.8). I also have a very highly positive ANA titer of 1:1280.
Everything I see about enlarged Virchow's node and enlarged epitrochlear nodes is awful, but my CT came back as normal. Am I just worrying for nothing?

Brief Answer:
These are normal nodes
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns.
1-1.5 cm nodes are quite normal in neck region. Many normal persons will have palpable nodes of this size. It does not signify disease always. As the CT scan is normal, I am convinced these are normal physiological nodes.
However, as the ANA titer is high, these could be from autoimmune disorder also. You need to check with the rheumatologist whether you have autoimmune disorder or not. If so, then treatment for that is required. These nodes would not influence the treatment as such.
Hope this helps. I will be available for followup.
regards

Even the supraclavicular and epitrochlear nodes?
Brief Answer:
please refer below
Detailed Answer:
As I said, this can be due to autoimmune phenomena. As CT scan of neck and chest is normal, possibility of tumor or lymphoma is very low.
