What Causes Panic Attacks, Restlessness And Insomnia After Perocet Withdrawal?

Question: Hi, I had back surgery and am doing very well. I have been taking percocert/oxcodone for the past 4 weeks. I have not taken as many as they were giving me in the hospital 2pills every 4 hours, now i take maybe 2-3 all day. Yesterday I didn't take any and I had a panic attack, restlessness, and sleeplessnes.Is this usually, if so would it help me if I took a xanax to settle down, THank you XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Yes,this is seen during perocet withdrawal and this is not strange and in most cases not serious. after such short perocet period,symptoms are mild and it may include certain degree of anxiety,depression,tahycardia,or dizziness. Xanax is allowed in smaller dosage and just during symptoms. It would be advisable to reduce perocet dosage gradually, take it 3 pills for next 2,days and then each 2 days discotinue 1 pill till you reach zero. It will be 6 days and it is enough for prevention of withdrawal.symptoms.wish you good health. Regards
