What Causes Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia?
Question: On 2 separate occasions about 2 weeks apart I have had sudden heart pounding, not racing, with what felt almost like heartburn. My face and hands also became very red and my hands became itchy and blotchy. The feeling lasted for about 15 minutes until I vomited. I began to feel better immediately but it took about 30 min. to return to normal

The underlying cause needs to be evaluated.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
You could have had episodes of a condition called paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (PSVT) where the heart rate suddenly rises high for sometime and then returns back to normal. It is characterized as sudden pounding of the heart. However, it could also be related to stress which might cause hyperacidity as well as palpitation. It might be worthwhile to get yourself evaluated and I would suggest you to visit a doctor and get yourself evaluated.
