What Causes Peeling Of Skin On Fingers Of A Child?

Question: The skin on my 6-year old daughters fingers (all of them) started peeling about a week ago. Now her palms are starting to peel and last night one of her toes started too. Any idea what's causing this or what we can do? She also has a sore throat.
Brief Answer:
Skin peeling is most likely due to throat infecting bacteria
Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.
I have taken note of your query and I have understood your concern.
Her sore throat and skin peeling are likely related.
A toxin produced by throat infecting bacteria ( commonly streptococcus) is responsible for skin rash and peeling of skin from finger tips/ toes and palms/ soles. Peeling usually starts after a few days of sore throat Or about the time when sore throat is subsiding.
This peeling of skin should subside on its own in a few days once her sore throat resolves. You may also use a moisturizer for her twice daily.
Regards
