What Causes Persistent Bad Taste In Mouth After Discontinuing Peridex?
Question: can I attach photo of wife's brown tongue?
wife has horrible taste for months. couldn't eat. loss lots of weight. doc treated for thrush and later did fungus test. not thrush. our dentist said bad taste is most likely due to Biofilm/bacteria. he did some oral cleaning and gave Peridex. and said to floss, brush, scrape and use salt water rinse. she stopped the peridex as it burnt even after diluting and had more bad taste at back of tongue. since then tongue turned brown and most food tastes bitter.

Normally, the papillae are pinkish. It can become brown or black from food, drinks, and bacteria or yeast getting caught in the papillae.
Poor oral hygiene, smoking tobacco,drinking a lot of coffee or tea,using antibiotics , being dehydrated, mouth breathing, bismuth containing medicines (such as Pepto-Bismol for upset stomach), regularly using mouthwash that contains peroxide, witch XXXXXXX or menthol are common causes.
Cleaning the tongue with a tongue cleaner or tooth brush helps to remove the debris.
Any identifiable cause should be avoided.

Again thx. I looked at tongue with a magnifier and flashlight.
yes. I can see longer 'hairs' in that part of tongue and
also sent photo to our dentist.
He says stop peridex and also looks like black hairy tongue.
