What Causes Persistent Diarrhea And Stomach Pain While Treating High BP?
Question: Hello. I am XXXX from Seoul Korea. My mom is diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2. She also has high blood pressure. Her two weeks blood check ranges from 96~183 (after meal). I am wondering if the doctor has given her too much medication for she has been having stomach pains as well as serious diarrea after this medication package. About three weeks ago, she had high fever of 40C and was admitted into hospital. Because it was such an emergency with mom having high fever as well as unstoppable diarrea, we went to the hospital near our house (not the current hospital we usually go to for it was a bit far off). The doctor was her fever + diarrea was because of pyelonephritis and gave her antibiotics until she got better. After that, she seemd to be ok after 3-4 days but she has been having unstoppable diarrea. The diarrea has been going on after she has gt a new set of medicine from our doctor. The medication daily includes Galvus Met 50/1000, Basen Tab. 0.2mg, Cozaar Tab 100mg, Lyrica 75mg, Amaryl Tab4mg, Lipitor 10mg. Is there any medication we can reduce?
Brief Answer:
Need more details regarding medication frequency and timing.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.
For better opinion I want to know -
- Her height, weight.
- Exact prescription of current medicine including timings.
- What was her previous prescription for diabetes (when there was no diarrhea).
- Blood report if available.
- Her Fasting and post - prandial blood sugar level.
Some component of her medicines may be associated with stomach upset indigestion, diarrhea as in her case.
Get back to me as early as possible with above information.
