What Causes Persistent Discomfort In The Chest?

default
Posted on Mon, 10 Apr 2017
Question: For the past week, I have been having typical seasonal allergy symptoms that I have had before. However, this year I am also having a symptom I've never had before. Several times a day, I have a uncomfortable sensation at the top of my chest below my esophagus that extends up to my throat and jaw. It lasts about 2-3 minutes and then I feel a sense of "relief"

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!

You are reporting to have had allergy symptoms and an uncomfortable sensation fom esophagus to your throat.
To my opinion your symptoms may be related with :
- GERD ( acid reflux)
- heart issues( more rarely)
-thyroid issues
This is why to my opinion firstly you should rule out cardiac issue by performing ECG and heart ultrasound.
If you have ruled out cardiac issues than you need to do:
- upper endoscopy
- thyroid ultrasound plus T3 T4 hormone level.
meantime you can use antacid drugs like Gaviscon and PPI's like prilosec OTC.

Hope it was helpful to you!
