right now I am taking Percocet to help control the pain
Can be due to osteoarthritic changes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Repeated meniscal tears and repairs and advancing age can cause arthritic changes in the knee to develop causing a persistent pain and swelling even at rest.
It is normal to move the bones in relaxed position. You are already using a knee brace for an additional support to the knee joint. In addition to the pain killers, you can add joint lubricant supplements like Glucosamine or chondroitin after consulting your orthopedician. Taking calcium supplements regularly and physiotherapy exercises will also help. In case the pain is persistent or unbearable then knee replacement surgery may have to be considered. To confirm the diagnosis and to rule out any other abnormality of the knee joint you can get an MRI scan of the knee done.
I hope this answers your query.
