What Causes Persistent Rash On The Upper Abdomen?
Question: Upper abdominal rash for 9 weeks now. No pain and no itch. Red and raised. Located just below chest line on left and right side. I've tried different ointments but no real results. Thought it might be acne but acne ointment did not help although it did soften rough raised areas.

Hello Dr. sawhney: there are no other ailments; I have been taking Losatan for HBP for past two years with no known side-effects; no other medicines but I do take some vitamins & supplements including "Prosvent" for prostrate health. I have been having occasional multiple nightly trips to bathroom which started after my first colonoscopy earlier this year; I have tried several OTC creams and ointments and also goldbond powder. Nothing has really helped. I do have outside allergies (hayfever) since childhood. Only moderate stress level at work. Rash is confined to upper abdominal area as shown in earlier pic.
I look forward to hearing from you........ XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
Either eczematous rash or sarcoidosis or granuloma annulare
Detailed Answer:
According to your complaints there are few possibilities: either eczematous rash or sarcoidosis or granuloma annulare.
Sarcoidosis and granuloma annulare are granulomatous disorders which can be confirmed by skin biopsy.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply potent topical steroid like clobetasol propionate cream on the affected areas twice daily for 10-12 days. It it shows improvement then it is probably eczematous reaction.
Otherwise consult a dermatologist and get a complete work up done.
Steroidal preparations are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
Besides this avoid using soap on the affected area, wear loose cotton clothes and stay in cool airy environment .
