Brief Answer:
Please consult doctor and get investigations done

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The commonest cause for bleeding from rectum is hemorrhoids and it is possible that your husband might be having this if he has no other symptoms.

2. Cancer of rectum is less common and is likely if with the bleeding in rectum there is loss of weight, generalized weakness, changed bowel movement and any lumps any where in the body.

3. It is important to get consult a doctor and get investigations like ultrasound scan abdomen, CT scan abdomen and colonoscopy done if required.

4. Stool test for blood is also important in the probable diagnosis of a cancer of rectum.

5. Blood test to measure carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) will also tell the chances of a rectal cancer.

In conclusion, please do not ignore his symptoms and get a clinical examination and required investigations done to confirm the condition.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
