What Causes Persistent Soreness And Weakness In Forearm Tendon And Elbow Area?

Question: Forearm tendon and elbow area have been sore and weakened for several months now, the only thing I can link it too is a gym workout whee I noticed a strain. I feel I may have strained or slightly torn something in the elbow region or one of the muscles or tendons attached there. The bicep/tricep itself is fine. It is more like a cross between carpal tunnel and tendonitis. Was also using kettlebells at the time so that may have been contributing cause. It actually aches from time to time when not even doing anything. I am a 60 year old male. I had been doing resistance workouts for months when this happened, and usually was careful about the amount of weight, but it may have been a fatigued muscle that caused an erratic motion. Have not done any resistance workouts in months. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
A partial muscle tear could have occurred
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
I have gone carefully through your query. Partial tears can occur in muscles and tendons during resistance workouts and you likely have suffered one. The degree of tear needs to be assessed and you need to visit a doctor for the same. Hot compress and analgesics should provide relief.
Let me know if I could help further.

Thank you. That makes sense, and explains why it is taking its time to heal, as it probably gets constantly aggravated by normal motion. Although it is centered around the elbow joint more and the top of the forearm, it causes an overall aching. May be referred pain? I can straighten the arm and lift objects that are not too heavy, but the forearm muscles tighten up immediately with any real strain on them. I have never had anything like this before in my life - no real history of weakness or achiness in my joints or muscles. Wasn't sure if ice or heat was best.
I see you recommend heat.
I see you recommend heat.
Brief Answer:
You need to get clinically assessed
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Sorry for not being able to respond faster.
Although referred pain is not impossible, it is very very unlikely.
Heat relaxes the muscles and provides relief. You need to see a doctor, preferably a sports medicine specialist, and get yourself evaluated. The exercise regimens should also be suitably defined.
