What Causes Persistent Vaginal Discharge?
Question: I have had a discharge for years .everyday I have to wear a panties liner. I have always mentioned at my doctors appointment. But never got a clear answer except that it's my body cleaning itself. What kind of answer is that. I get embarrassed when I have the panti liner on when four play is spontaneous. And sometimes it has a bad odor. What is causing this ? And is there a cure ? Doctors don't think it's a big deal but I do.

It is true that glands in the cervix and vagina secrete fluid to help remove the dead cells from those areas. In some women it can be excess.
Excess vaginal discharge can also be due to vaginal and cervical infection, cervical erosion and other cervical pathology. So it is important that you get an internal examination done by Gynaecologist to find out if there is an infection/ pathology in the cervix or vagina. Get swabs done to rule out infection.
Get a Pap smear done too if that is due. If these results are normal then one can presume that you have normally excess vaginal discharge.
Always wear cotton undergarments. Use mild soap to clean vagina. Don't use scented soaps, feminine sprays or douches. All these can increase vaginal discharge.
