What Causes Persistent Vaginal Pain?

Information
Detailed Answer:
Hello Myriam,
Having white discharge that looks something like cottage cheese, and irritation, can be a yeast infection. It is hard to say this definitively without seeing you and doing a culture, but you might want to try an over the counter anti yeast cream that is inserted into the vagina. If that doesn't help, you should see your doctor.
You can, in addition, soak in tub water that has 1 cup of apple cider vinegar added to it (yeast don't like acidic environments).
Yeast infections are actually overgrowths of the yeast that normally live on our skin and in the vagina. They usually have competition from "good bacteria" which keeps their numbers in check. But if the environment changes, such as after taking an antibiotic, increased sugar, warm moist environment, then the yeast become a problem.
For now, limit sugars and eating lots of simple carbohydrates, and alcohol. Wear loose cotton clothing, and perhaps no underwear when sleeping (nightgown or loose pajamas - ok).
White discharge can also be from high levels of hormones, but it won't appear chunky as you described.
I hope this information helps.
