Question: Hi, I wanted to ask for your advice if you have heard of such a rare thing,

I was born with numerous difficulties including a squint in one eye and great difficulty concentrating on anything, my learning and memory was hugely impaired all my life and as the years went on I found I hardly learnt or recalled almost all information. I was also an anxious child and gradually I started getting Anxiety symptoms to extreme and would prevent me from doing simple every day tasks due to irritability, nervousness, concentration and memory, My communication and understanding of most things was also very impaired, I still felt O.K in myself and was not in despair or agony but after taking AntiDepressants I got horrifying symptoms such as suicidal. Burning sensation all over body, extremely heavy, head, psychotic thoughts thinking I am in some unreal world, nothing making any sense to me even the most basic of things in the house. It is far worse than describing. I got over that but left me traumatised then it happened again 8 years later when again took Antidepressants thinking they were different however same unreal horrific symptoms experienced and took one and a half years to recover. Again I was left traumatised and my life became more limited, This time after less than two years the same thing has happened and this time after I had come off AntiDepressants from the previous time as had to continue taking after I had recovered. I am in so much agony physically and mentally and can not do a thing but suffer all day and night. My natural sleep also went and nothing in life is making any sense. I feel trapped in my body and mind and desperate for answers. I had a scan in 2007 which showed high probability of oxygen deprivation at birth and my Mom agrees that proper care had not been taken when I was born, I am certain that I have a rare case as I had severe learning abilities and memory function apart from emotional memories of all I have been through with my dysfunctions and disabilities and keep recalling all this and how things are done. If that was not all rare enough I had this unusual unreal reaction to medication which progressed my condition once recovered from the meds with memories of the unreal traumas experienced. I am full sure that something happened at birth as I've not been ever able to concentrate on anything or learn and recall information and even the most basic everyday things that you need to function on a daily basis and do life.

Are they any treatments available that would reverse any damage caused. I can hardly function and have 0 quality of life. Doctors only say I have severe Anxiety but they do not know my struggles with severe learning and memory difficiencues my entire life.

Brief Answer:
Get some investigations and consult neurologist and psychiatrist

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
As per your narration you have suffered hypoxic injury during birth or prenatal period.
Brain functions are coordinated output of both left and right hemisphere and all the lobes. Any damage leads to suboptimal output.
Memory and concentration are highly dependent on different parts of brain and any damage to this circuit will lead to abnormal functioning.
Behavioural and anxiety components may be related to stress, peer pressure, home environment, expectations and social surroundings.
Stem cell therapy is not indicated and approved by governing bodies for treatment of hypoxic ischemic brain injuries.
You should get evaluated by a neurologist and psychiatrist.
Following investigations should also be done to rule out any metabolic causes like thyroid profile, vitamin B12 levels, blood sugar, urea creatinine, liver function test.
Depression also causes poor concentration, memory loss and suicidal tendency.
Now a days very good antidepressants with minimal side effects are available and can be tried under a psychiatrist.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
