What Causes Positive Pregnancy Test After Miscarriage?
Question: I had a miscarriage on July 18th, 2014, it was a blighted ovum pregnancy and I was almost 9 weeks along. I took a home pregnancy test on Aug 30th, 2014 and it came back positive. Can that just be residual hcg hormones from the pregnancy I lost 6wks ago, or can I be pregnant again?
Brief Answer:
please do a serial blood test for Hcg
Detailed Answer:
Dear member
Thanks for writing.
The urine pregnancy test can be positive due to the previous blighted ovum.
Its also possible that it can be a new pregnancy.
The right way to confirm is to do a blood test levels for serum beta hcg on two days.
If the levels are increasing then it's a new pregnancy.
If they are decreasing then the levels are due to the previous blighted ovum.
Hope this was helpful.
