What Causes Premature Ventricular Contractions?

they say it is anxiety. i have this problem constantly...it is taken my life...please guide
Please reduce your anxiety.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
1. Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are common in general population. On a given day they are likely to occur in two-third of population to some extent. In certain subset of persons they are symptomatic. However, if there is no serious symptom like syncope/ dizziness/ loss of consciousness/ unexplained fall/ Breathlessness and the ECHO do not show any structural heart disease, they are not treated at all and are of no consequence. We treat them only if patient has significant symptoms; even is these cases they are not fatal and do not effect long term prognosis. When the are associated with structural heart disease, the prognosis is determined by underlying heart disease and not PVCs.
2. Certain conditions increased the propensity for PVCs and should be avoided, if possible. These include anti-asthma drugs, anxiety, stress, smoking, tea, coffee and psychotropic stimulants like amphetamines.
3. Bisoprolol is a commonly used drug for this condition and we use it often.
4. i recommend you to consult your physician regarding uptitration of drug dosage and try meditation/ stress reducing exercises.
Sincerely

Detailed Answer:
Dear sir
These are anti-anxiety drugs. I am personally not a proponent of these medicines in my patients. I would recommend alteration in dose of bisoprolol under your cardiologists guidance and services of a clinical psychologist who can help you in coping anxiety and stress without drugs. Drugs should be last resort.

relax.
Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir
Since your ECHO, stress test and angiogram is normal, heart disease is ruled out. Second thing is that anxiety is not the only cause for PVCs. Third thing is PVCs may remain or can happen in someone without any anxiety. Hence you should try to divert your attention from PVCs as well as anxiety element. Anxiety can last for years together which is called anxiety trait. You are taking your PVCs too seriously which does not seem to be the case actually with given information.

Sukhvinder

please see details
Detailed Answer:
Dear sir
First of all you try to convince yourself that this condition is benign and not life threatening. It is to be understood and taken to heart. Try to remain calm. Discuss with cardiologist and psychologist. May be a change of drug will help.
