What Causes Presence Of Blood In Urine?

default
Posted on Wed, 1 Feb 2017
Question: My husband has blood in his urine, no back pain or fever. He has pain in his penis and a full bladder but can't urinate. Could this be a stone that has stopped him from urinating? He has a doctor appoint tomorrow morning. Is there anything I can do for him now?

Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

It could be a stone, but it could also be blockage from a swollen prostate. If he is not able to urinate and it has been more than a few hours, I recommend not waiting until the morning but going in to either urgent care of ER where they can try to see what is going on and pass a catheter to relieve him. If his bladder is full but he can't urinate, if left untreated for too long, urine will back up and exert pressure on the kidneys.

I hope this information helps. Please let me know how he is doing after you go in to have him seen.
