What Causes Pressure During Urination With Normal Abdominal X-ray?
Question: Thursday night felt like I had a kidney stone but it only lasted a couple of hours. Since Friday I have felt pressure at the bottom like I need to urinate constantly. I saw my Dr who did an abdominal xray and saw nothing. He put me on ciprofloxacin which I have been taking since yesterday but have gotten no relief. I have no other symptoms of an infection. Today I started taking AZO but still no relief from the pressure. I have had a history of kidney stones. No other pain at this time but the pressure.

although no stone was identified on the X-ray, a renal stone (perhaps) obstructed your urinary tract and caused the symptoms. When the symptoms do not include flank pain and there are frequency and burning sensation then the obstruction is probably lower than the kidney (perhaps a stone or a clot in the ureter just before entering the bladder).
Blood in the urine with symptoms and no evidence of infection is usually caused by stones or other causes of obstruction. An ultrasound scan properly done when the patient is symptomatic will prove the obstruction. Please remember that not every stone is visible on the X-ray, so the fact that your doctor found none does not exclude the stones as a cause of your symptoms.
Blood in the urine and bladder symptoms can also originate from various bladder problems. If the symptoms persist and the blood in the urine becomes a frequent finding then perhaps cystoscopy should be considered.

Is there anything that I can do for the pressure now since it seems to be worse than yesterday?
