What Causes Pressure In Right Upper Abdomen?

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: My personal trainer had me doing crunches when I had not exercised regularly in some time and it appears I have an uncomforable odd feeling in my right upper abdomin since that is gradually becoming less of a bother. Elimination is normal and I feel well otherwise. The feeling is primarly one of pressure when I sit for any period such as when I drive or sit on an aeroplane regular seat. An ultrasound showed up nothing significant and blood tests all showed to be normal to include liver test, except for I need to reduce my cholesterol which I am doing.Any ideas?

Brief Answer:
Perfectly normal after exercising a muscle for the first time

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Based on the provided information I am almost sure this is nothing but the abdominal muscles which were exercised on during the crunches.

As you had not exercised in some time, the first work out on the muscles can leave them feeling sore for a while. This is a perfectly normal reaction and is one that should not cause any concern at all.

I am more than sure this will subside in a while. In fact, having a lot of experience in the field myself I feel this way every time I return to the gym after a long break. Just rest for a while or go back to the gym and workout the same muscles which will also help for them to get accustomed and will gradually help in the pressure subsiding.

I hope you find my response helpful ma'am. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.
