Brief Answer:
Most likely Gastritis. Start anti acid medicines.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX.
Most likely your husband must be having Gastritis.
I suggest you decrease acidic food. Smoking and alcohol if he partakes, should be completely stopped. I usually prescribe the following for my patients in my clinic, Tab Pantoprazole 40mg or Cap Omeprazole 20mg half an hour before meals twice daily. This should be continued for a month. Along with it Antacid gels or Sucrlafate solution can be taken when the problem is severe. You gave to remember that these are prescription medications in many parts of the world. Especially the Pantoprazole. Do your husband will have to discuss its usage with his doctor.

If it gets relieved then good.

If you don't see improvement in a weeks time then you should consult your Doctor or a GP who can advice an Upper GI Endoscopy and an Ultrasound abdomen to rule out various causes of such pain or feeling.

Do let me know if I can help you with any further queries that might arise.
Take care.
