Brief Answer:
Progesterone causes withdrawal bleeding

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Medroxyprogesterone is a kind of progesterone tablet which is used to prolong the cycle as well as to reduce bleeding.. On stoppage, it will cause withdrawal bleeding in a week. So since you stopped this tablet after 5 days, it caused the withdrawal bleeding..

Please get a scan done to see for uterine fibroid , excessive thickness of endometrium or any ovarian cyst. If any abnormality is detected treat the cause..

If no abnormality detected, this may be a premenopausal symptom. That means you may be nearing your menopause. In this case, you can take 3 cycles of OCP's and take tranexemic acid during period if bleeding is heavy.. After 3 months bleeding will slowly decrease and then stop.

Hope I have answered your query.. Feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day..
