What Causes Enlarged Cervix With Ovarian Cyst?

I am 56 and have not been thru menopause. I have been bleeding for over three weeks. Had a transvaginal ultrasound that showed a 5.2 cm ovarian cyst, another cyst in the cervix and two small fibroids. My cervix is enlarged and the lining is measuring 8mm. The doc has me scheduled for a biopsy in two weeks. Since I have only been able to talk to the nurse, what does all of this mean and what could they be looking for?

Anesthesiologist 's  Response
Hello,

A few conditions where your cervix lining is thickened are cervical cancer, endometrial hyperplasia, and endometrial cancer. Mainly, the biopsy helps in screening cervical and uterine cancers. Please don't skip it at any cost.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
