What Causes Puffy Eyes When Suffering From Fever And Cold?
Question: Dear Mr XXXXXXX
Thanks for answering my earlier question few weeks back. I have made sure not to give Meftal-P to my daughter anymore. My daughter is 3.5 years old. Whenever she gets cold and fever, there will be puffiness in her left eye. There is no watering or color change in the eye, it's just the puffiness. It goes off in a day or two by itself. What could cause this puffiness and how should this be treated?

Brief Answer:
Blocked nasolacrimal duct
Detailed Answer:
Hi Mr. XXXXXXX .. I am happy for your trust in me and my advices.
What you are quoting could be a blocked nasolacrimal duct which runs from nose end of eye to the inside of nose. This happens in some kids when there's fever, cough and cold.
It could also happen while lying most of the time on left side too.
You need not worry unless there is deepening redness in the eyes or pus like eye discharge or pain in eyes. You say that it settles in 1-2 days.... So don't worry.
I have a suggestion for you - if its there now or if she has it next time, a photograph would help me a lot in correctly estimating what it is.
