What Causes Puffy Skins On The Jaws After Using Amoxicillin?

default
Posted on Thu, 24 Nov 2016
Question: Two days ago, my upper right jaw began to become puffy and the right side of my mouth has the rubbery type of skin above it. Also, my upper very last right tooth is extremely tight to the skin. I just started using amoxicillin and also am using a sea salt mixture, ice packs and Aleve. I don't have any pain but is hard to eat. Should I get a better type of medicine, how long will it take to go away? The swelling on my cheek is starting to go down.

Brief Answer:
Seems like Inflamed gum flap..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCAREMAGIC..

As per your complain if you have a swelling on the right upper jaw with a tight very last tooth on the same side then it can be most probably due to inflammation of the gum flap that surrounds the tooth caused due to infection..

Other cause can be infection in the tooth that is also a common cause for swelling and discomfort..

As you have taken antibiotics, painkillers and also done gargles, swelling has come down as the infection must have reduced..

But for complete resolution, it has to be ruled out that what is exactly causing the symptoms of swelling and then only a permanent resolution can be achieved..
The medication you are taking is appropriate and if swelling is going down then you need not to worry and continue taking the medication and hopefully the swelling will gradually reduce in a week..

In case if it still does not looks better consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical examination and also an x ray has to be done to rule out the cause and treatment will be done accordingly..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
