Posted on Sat, 4 Apr 2015
Question: Hi,
4 weeks back I was having radiating pain in my left arm and shoulder. Was also not able to lie down to sleep as pain would increase. Contacted a physiotherapist. He was able to relieve the pain. However a few days back when I got up in the morning, the pain was back. Along with the pain there is numbness in thumb and one finger. According to the Physiotherapist, while doing the exercise or while sleeping the damage has happened. In last 2 Days my arm pain has reduced or almost gone. But numbness remains. Am advised neogaba 75. I am unable to lie straight on my back as I experience pain. So also cannot get mri done. He says that the issue is of herniated disk c5/c6. Any advice please.

Brief Answer:
It indeed appears to be a disc problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

I can derive a very clear and precise clinical impression from your medical history.Your symptom complex of radiating pain in left arm and shoulder along with numbness in thumb and finger of the same hand is indeed,a suggestion of cervical radiculopathy. It is commonly C5-C6,however level can't be precisely told without physical examination.

MRI cervical spine is a must for diagnosis.Nerve conduction studies, will also help in diagnosis.

Meanwhile, please continue neogaba 75.Also,start methylcobalamin 1500 mcg once a day along with calcium- vitamin D supplements. They are prescription drugs and you need to see a GP for that.

Continue physiotherapy.

Waiting for your follow-up.

Thanks Doctor. I got my blood tested as advised by my family physician. I have Vitamin D and calcium deficiency. Been advised to take supplements for them immediately.
I am also adviced the following by the Neorologist.
Hifenac P, Myoril. One is a NSAID and other is a muscle relaxant.
I am told Newgaba 75 has strong side effects. Is it a pain killer. Can it be avoided or deferred.
Very worried on so many medicines.
Which ones do you think are absolutely necessary for getting well.

Brief Answer:
Neugaba 75,calcium,vitamin D and physiotherapy.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

Neugaba 75 is the medicine that is the most indicated in your current situation.Along with please continue calcium, vitamin D and physiotherapy.

Physiotherapy or exercises with proper technique are mandatory for improvement.

Neugaba may have mild sedative effect for initial couple of days.Otherwise, side effects are not that common.Presently,it is the drug which will help you the most. You should think of effects when side effects are not that worrisome.

NSAIDS and muscle relaxants can be taken on sos basis(at the time of severe pain).

Hope I have answered your query. If you have some follow-up questions,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread-rate it and write a review.Your rating will be of help to me.

Thanks Doctor.
Since Neogaba has side effects, please let me know if I will be able to attend office after taking this medicine.

Also, is it for pain or will help in healing the slip disk.

Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for being in follow-up.

I already told that Neugaba don't have much side effects, practically speaking. It will not cause any problem in any of your daily routines. You will be able to attend office without any problem.

Is it anti-neuralgic meant to improve pain.Physiotherapy will help strengthen your disc, not any of the medicines.
