Brief Answer:
Examination of skin scrapping advised to rule out bacteria/fungus...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I am sorry about your current health situation.

First, I need to have a photo of the affected area, so I can get an idea on healthy problems you are having.

You are saying in your medical history that your doctor put you on:
- prednisone which is a steroid anti-inflammatory drug that will help reduce the inflammation and itching
- lamisil cream, which is antifungal medication containing Terbinafin as active ingredient.

If I was your caring doctor would advise to run examination of skin scrapping under microscopy for fungus. Depending on the results would prescribe oral anti-fungal medications too.

Keep a good local hygiene. I advise my patients with the same problems as you the following therapy:
- wash with lukewarm water and soap
- rinse thoroughly
- dry well
- apply gentian violet solution on affected area (you can find as over the counter)
- let it dry
- then apply lamisil cream

especially at bedtime, so the medication will act overnight.

Hope it was of help!
Dr.Albana
