What Causes Rectal Bleeding After Insertion Of Fingers Through The Anus?

Posted on Mon, 6 Mar 2017
Question: Hi

This is a little embarrassing....But I'm having a little problems going to the bathroom. I put my finger up my butt and there was some bleeding, when I looked in the toilet. Is that because I put my finger, and my nail cut it in my butt? Will this heal? Or could it be a hemorrhoid?

Brief Answer:
May be a small trauma or hemorrhoids - get proctoscopy done.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
I can understand, noted the history well.
The bleeding is most probably due to nail causing some injury; heals well, do not worry.
If there are hemorrhoids, there would have been history of bleeding previously.
I would advise you the following:
Since there is bleeding it is highly advisable to consult a General Surgeon and get per-rectal digital and Ano-proctoscopy done to see if there is an injury or an actual asymptomatic hemorrhoids present. This gives the chance to know the exact diagnosis and if at all anything else is present, earliest will be diagnosis and further management as required.

I hope this answer helps you, please feel free to ask for further relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

I don't have the money for all of that. It's not bleeding anymore. That's why I'm asking here. Good grief it's not that bad and I'm not going through all of that. You told me it will heal well. I'm not going to a surgeon! This is going overboard on what to do!! I think, this is the last time I ask a question here:( why all these expensive tests and a surgeon....its not bleeding anymore...I can't afford all those tests! I might loose my insurance and I just paid $600 for a 90 day supply of pills.....because I have Obamacare and there doing something with it.

Thanks but I'm done on here...this is the last time I ask a question on here...people don't have that kind of money :(

Brief Answer:
Actual evaluation if needed.

Detailed Answer:
Seeing a Surgeon is in case the bleeding reappears or you develop some symptoms.
Internal hemorrhoids can be known on proctoscopy alone hence suggested.
Let us be factual. Certain cases need actual evaluation for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Well, do you fave any other symptoms and watch for any bleeding or pain.
Take care.
With regards.
