What Causes Recurrent Fluid In Joint And Pain With History Of Knee Replacement?

Question: Hello,
I have submitted and receive an answer to my following dilema but would like to hear as many opinions as possible.
I had knee replacement surgery 1 yr ago and have had ongoing problems. The muscle and front of the knee hurt and feel weak when trying to walk upstairs and getting up from a chair making nearly impossible to do. I have also had fluid building up in the knee and have had it aspirated.
X-rays have been taken and the hardware looks to be aligned well, a bone scan was done and 'lights-up' over the kneecap, saphenous nerve block was attempted but didn't work.
The Dr has injected my knee with cortisone 4 times...and each time all of the symptoms go away by 95% and the knee feels great! However the symptoms, pain, and fluid come back at precisely 4 weeks after the injection.
My Dr seems to be stumped by this. I myself am a Registered Nurse and it has become very frustrating that I have always been able to care for others...yet am unable to do the same for myself!
If I were to go to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota what kind of Dr would be best?
Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
p.s. I do have psoriatic arthritis but I feel it is being managed well with Remicade and
methotrexate.

Brief Answer:
Best to consult knee replacement surgeon
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for your query.
Recurrent fluid in joint and pain is likely to be due to inflammation in joint. It could be due to allergic reaction to the implant material or infection.
Do quadriceps exercises to strengthen the muscle around knee.
It would be best to consult knee replacement surgeon in Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX
Infection has been ruled out and I have been doing quadricep stretching and strengthening exercises for the past year now. I have been told that allergic reaction is very rare but how would a Dr test for that?
I will most likely be asking my surgeon for a referral to the Mayo Clinic in the very near future. Very frustrating...
