Brief answer....There is no specific treatment except lifestyle changes
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I really feel very sorry for the continuous problem being faced by you but the fact is that after getting the ERCP and getting stents placed, not much further specific treatment can be offered except lifestyle management.
Chronic
pancreatitis is a condition where
pancreas becomes permanently damaged due to inflammation and the most common symptoms are repeated episodes of pain and
nausea.
Although the most common cause is abuse of alcohol, however in few cases it can be due to
smoking,autoimmune problem or inherited genetic
mutation.
In most of the cases of chronic pancreatitis there is no specific treatment to reduce the inflammation and continuous damage of pancreas and therefore treatment consists of lifestyle changes and medications to relieve the pain, however this pain may be difficult to treat and nance can seriously affect the quality of life.
Lifestyle changes include...
Quitting alcohol and smoking completely
Eating low fat diet
Drinking plenty of fluids
Eating small and frequent meals
Limiting caffeine
Taking multivitamins and calcium
Taking pain medications
Sometimes surgical
nerve block can be done to get rid of
chronic pain.
I know you must be quite aware of what I have mentioned above, but the fact is that at the moment nothing more can be offered.
I wish you that you are able to come out of this problem with courage and adopting proper lifestyle changes.
Best of luck
Thanks
