Common cold or viral illness

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. I understand your concern regarding recurrent cold.
First I will answer your queries and alley your fears.
1. Infants are very much prone to get recurrent viral colds and upper respiratory infections which manifest as cough and cold.
2. This can happen monthly once or twice. During the episode they might get some fever too, which requires only Paracetamol at 15mg/kg/dose every 4-6th hourly, and that too only if fever is > 100F.
3. Your eating habits or XXXXXXX to your hair are not at all related to the kid's viral illness. As a nursing and lactating mother you can eat whatever and how much ever you want.
4. I suggest not to use combination medicines like T-Minic and use only plain Cetrizine for running nose. I would be glad to suggest the dose and formulation if you get back to me with with the weight of the kid. For nose block you can use saline nasal drops like Nasoclear one drop in each nostril 4 to 6 times a day.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Thanks for the reply...
I did not get the point 4.... Are you suggesting me to use Cetrizine instead of T-minic. But I would be happy to know whats the harm in using T-minc as I started using this from her 3rd month onwards...
She weighs exactly 6kgs now...

Detailed Answer:
Hi...warm greetings from XXXXXXX Thanks for the trust in me. I would like to quote a direct evidence from what medical literature says.
Phenylephrine has not been shown to be safe or effective in children younger than 6 years. Therefore, do not use this product to treat cold symptoms in children younger than 6 years.
The safety of cetirizine has been demonstrated in paediatric patients aged 6 months to 11 years. This is far far better than Phenylephrine.
Coming to the doses, these are what I suggest,
1. For fever - Crocin drops (100mg/ml) 0.9ml orally every 4 to 6th hourly that too only if temperature s more than 100F.
2. For stuffy nose - Nasoclear nasal drops 1 drop in each nostril 4 or 6 times a day. It is saline drops and not a drug.
3. For cold - Zyrted drops (10mg/ml) 0.15ml once or twice a day for 3 days.
