What Causes Recurring Cold Sores On Lips?

Question: Hello Doctor,

I get Cold Sores on my lips very frequently, almost once or twice every two months. Is this normal? Also could you please suggest a prevention and a cure?

Thanks for the query.
Cold sores or herpes of lips is a viral infection.
It is usually recurrent.
I treat such patients with topical aycyclovir cream and have seen excellent response with that.
If you use this continuously for a month, recurrence will decrease.
