What Causes Recurring Pain Below Sternum And In Upper Right Abdomen?
Question: I'm a 46 yr old female. I've had upper right abdominal pain and middle of my chest under the sternum pain reoccurring for the past 3 weeks. Little nausea no vomiting. I've had an ultrasound, blood work and urinalysis done all normal. Was prescribed omeprazole 40 mg 2 days ago. 2 a day until Friday. I have a HIDA scan scheduled for tomorrow. Last night approx 630pm was my last meal. Cube steaks with mashed potatoes. Today I am having constant yellow foamy diarrhea, 5 times in the past 3 hrs, no stomach pain though. What is going on with me?
Brief Answer:
Possible Mild food poisoning.
Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir/Mam,
I understand your query and concern.
You seem to have mild food poisoning related diarrhoea in the last 24 hours.
This incident is unrelated to ongoing upper right abdominal pain.
This will subside on its own in the next 24 hours. If recovery is related, antibiotics are usually indicated.
Pertaining to the abdominal discomfort and pain,it possibly represents acid reflux disease.
This needs upper GI endoscopy rather than HIDA scan.
But HIDA might be asked in suspicion for gallstone related colic or infection.
Omeprazole is Rightly prescribed.
Post your further queries if any,
Thank you.
