Brief Answer: need clarifications Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX I see you reported pain right under the hysterectomy scar. As I am aware of hysterectomy scars are located under the umbilicus. Can you confirm the location of pain - is it above the umbilicus or below. Presuming it is below, the most common possibility is ureteric stone. Ureteric colic can very well cause intense pain matching your description. You need to get an ultrasound scan of your abdomen with a full bladder to look for it, also it will help to screen your entire abdomen for any other pathology. If it indeed comes out to be a stone only then further management will depend upon the location and size of the stone. By the way, are you also having any burning sensation during urination? Scars are sometimes painful; however its causing pain only for few days, I would exclude painful scars at this moment. Visit your surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan and keep me updated. Hope this helps. Dr. Ashish Verma

the scar is 2 inches above my belly button no problems when urinating..........and it seems to me the pain is right over my gallbladder Also, the pain lasts 10-30minutes and then subsides and may not happen again for up to 3 days..........feels to me like it could also be an ulcer........

Brief Answer: its likely to be due to stones Detailed Answer: Hi XXXXXXX Ulcer pains are usually related to food and are daily. Your pain is more of a coliky type that is usually seen with stones (gall stones or renal stones). If the pain is over the gall bladder area, then chances of gall stones are more. And for that you need to have an ultrasound of your abdomen for confirmation. If usg comes out to be normal then you can try a course of a ppi like omeprazole or pantaprazole in consultation with your local doctor and see if the pain subsides. If it does, then it was due to ulcer only and then you need to continue the same for a few weeks. Regards Dr. Ashish Verma
